FINALLY, after two years, Waterlogged is complete. Standing at a whopping 190k (and probably over 200k after editing), Waterlogged is the longest book I have ever written. Granted, it's split up into four parts, but it's still one book.
The entire Replay Series is over 300k so far. The One-Hundred is 100k, and The One-Hundred series adds up to be over 300k as well. So. Waterlogged is 2/3 the size of these two series, AND it's one book. Sorry. Just kind of blows my mind. The whole book is something close to my heart. I love these characters so, so very much. The world I created with the sirens and the humans... it just works, for me. Iridessa is such a joy, and she is so eager to learn about the human world while simultaneously so terrified of it and the men that walk it... and I love watching her and Elijah grow throughout the book. The way they provide for each other and the way they go out of their way to help one another, even though they are supposed to hate each other... Ah... it just feels so nice. Anyway. Waterlogged is finished. I have a lot of heavy lifting when it comes to editing for the last part, but I don't mind. I rewrote the whole fourth part three times. The first time, I got halfway through it and just... stopped. I couldn't write anymore. I ended up hating where it was going. Then I started again. I got almost 20k words in and stopped. Because I hated this one too. So I got a bunch of post-it notes and a friend, and wrote what I needed to happen on the post-it notes. Then, my friend helped me move the post-it notes around until the story made sense. And that did the trick. I got through it. I finished it. And I can't wait to share it with you. Thanks for all your support. - K.
