Review: The Nocturnal Devil: A Griffin Knight Mystery Thriller (The Griffin Knight Series Book 3) by Miguel Angel Hernandez Jr.

My Review:

4 stars.

“The Nocturnal Devil” is a fast-paced, action-packed story with recurring characters we know and love. I will admit the first chapter had me cringing, like it was trying too hard, but the rest of the killers chapters were well done and I appreciated that.

I wish more was done with the mansion and the horror movie theme. If the mummy in the corner really was a corpse wrapped in linen, or there was a “fake” body in the coffins, etc. that would have been cool.

I also wish with the killer was approached, there wasn’t an immediate explosion of gunfire or combat. That being said, Hernandez is a master at writing combat scenes and I rather enjoy reading them.

I do still enjoy the high-tech additions to the story, it definitely makes this series stand out.

The return of Sapphire is great, but I think it made me split focus with what else was really going on in the story, making it feel a bit more scattered, but I did still enjoy it.

The characters are great and fleshed out, and I can’t wait to read more.

All in all, this is a good read. Keep up the good work!

Summary:

My Review:

5 stars.

This book forces you to look inward and challenge yourself in ways that will help you grow exponentially in your life.

A wealthy mindset starts with a healthy mindset. By recognizing habits that are destructive to your future, even if they don't seem that way at first, you learn to change your perspective. The contrasting nature between the chapters listed as POOR ME verses RICH ME shows, from personal experiences, the author has done just that.

I really enjoyed how the author didn't hold back. The author is very blunt, honest, and open about their past and how they used to think verses how they think now, and I find that bold and honorable. Because of this honesty, I found myself in this book more often than I thought I would, making the book engaging and extremely helpful.

All in all, I both enjoyed and learned from this book. I believe it will help a lot of people, as it certainly helped me.

Summary:

In this book, you will explore the powerful connection between your mindset and habits and how they can determine your financial future. You will learn the secrets of the world's most successful individuals and how they have managed to create wealth and abundance in their lives. You will identify the limiting beliefs and habits that may be holding you back from achieving financial freedom. You will also discover how to make the right decisions and develop the habits that will lead you towards financial success.
The insights provided will help you shift your mindset and habits, creating a more positive relationship with money and allowing you to achieve your financial dreams. You will learn how to overcome any obstacles that may arise along the way.

You will find a collection of rich and poor mindset chapters presented in the form of a narrator telling their story, each focusing on a different aspect of life. The rich mindset chapters, titled "Rich Me," describe the positive habits, decisions, and behaviors that can lead to success and fulfillment. On the other hand, the poor mindset chapters, titled "Poor Me," describe the negative habits, decisions, and behaviors that can hold you back from achieving your goals. These chapters are designed to help you recognize the limiting beliefs and behaviors that may be sabotaging your success, and provide you with the tools to overcome them.

Imagine being the first millionaire in your family. Imagine the sense of pride and accomplishment that comes with knowing that you have not only changed your own life but the lives of those around you. You have the power to create a legacy for your family, one that will be remembered for generations to come.

My Review:

I'm tired of seeing doctors and hospitals chew up and spit out people like they're objects. I hope this brings solace to people with the same issues and maybe brings it to light.

I loved the poems--they were short and sweet and got their points across. I actually highlighted a few.

To the author, I wish you peace through your journey. Thank you for sharing this piece of your heart with the world.

This is the second edition of author D.L. Heather's award-winning book, 'Life Interrupted'. This book was one that readers loved and appreciated all around the world, a book that helped spread awareness about what it's like to live with an invisible illness.

Review: An A to Z Walk in the Park by R.M. Smith

My Review:

5 stars

Although this book uses big words, it uses them in a way that is fun and creative, encouraging kids to expand their vocabulary. The artwork is great and I love all the animals that are shown--not everyone knows about a lot of these, so it's really cool to see. I believe this could inspire children to learn about animals and explore reading about them.

Summary:

Take a journey upon a path that winds into a park full of wild and not so wild creatures from A to Z. This picture book is designed to help children learn their ABC's while identifying much of the animal kingdom-there are over 200 animals to explore. In addition to learning the alphabet, An A to Z Walk in the Park was created with the idea of how great it would be to read and connect many animals with their names easily in one book! There is even an index!

Review: The Legend of the Copper Cyborg: Loading... by L. Hawk

My Review:

This book takes a premise we recognize: being iseki-ed into a video game world—but this one is rather refreshing.

It’s a relaxing read, and definitely feels like it's for middle schoolers or young teenagers. It was a nice change of pace from my usual heavy, dark reads, and I feel like I learned some things from it. I saw a lot of myself in young Kelsi, and I’m proud to say I’ve grown since I was her age.

The author definitely loves the environment they've created, and has thought of everything needed to support this world. At times, it felt like it dragged a bit, and there were some things we learned early on that were repeated later in the book. However, even through this, this story is captivating, and I found myself rooting for KBD to win their games and stay high in the game's ranking system. I also very much enjoyed the flaws and shortcomings with the characters. This makes them well rounded and balanced.

This is surely a great read for anyone who loves video games and strong characters. I look forward to the next book.

Summary:

It’s the year 2092. Kelsi, 12, and her teammates Red Nose and Black Nose, two wolf dogs, find themselves as players in a strange new world. Here, they must compete to stay in good standing, not only for their reputation but also for their survival. Realizing that it would be much harder to get back home, they made it a point to take the game more seriously in order to survive and get to the top. However, when Kelsi is overcome with the need to win, she begins to throw herself and her friends into more and more dangerous predicaments. After Kelsi learns more about the legend of the copper cyborg, she comes up with a plan. But will the cyborg be what Kelsi and the village need to make it to the top or is the game world doomed from the start?

The Legend of the Copper Cyborg blends the classic with the modern. It combines the enchantment of Oz, the suspense of Frankenstein, the mechanics of Minecraft, and the exploration of the Jungle Book into one twisting, fascinating saga that is sure to entertain even the most reluctant of readers.

Review: The Contract With Yourself by Dineshrie Pillay

My Review:

Regaining control of your life can seem overwhelming and impossible to achieve when you're stuck in the chaos of every day. Every day can be a challenge, or it can be an opportunity to learn and grow--but that's up to you! With fun, creative, and engaging exercises to help rewire your brain, Dineshrie Pillay has cultivated an honestly wonderful book to help control the chaos.

A lot of this book really resonated with me, but I think the icing on the cake is how kind the author is with her words and encouragement. By being vulnerable and sharing moments she's had in her life that she was able to turn around and come out better, it made me feel like I was gaining a new friend, someone willing to lift me up when I feel like the world is weighing me down.

I've been having a lot of difficulty just doing some things because I'm terrified of what people will think, things I've wanted to do my whole life. That being said, this book has given me the confidence and motivation to make a change in my worries and ways of thinking. After all, it doesn't matter what other people say, because...

"There will be many people who enter and exit your life at some point or another. The one person who will remain consistent in your life is you."

This is my journey, and letting someone else be the author of my life is a recipe for disaster.

Something really cool is a lot of these lessons remind me of things I've been learning in church and Bible studies. In order to grow, you must renew your mind and trust you can handle whatever God, or circumstance, puts in your path. If you believe you can overcome whatever it is, then you will overcome it. If you don't, and you let anxiety and fear overrun you, you won't. The mind is a powerful tool, and imagination is a terrible master.

I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to grow and have a say-so in their own life again. I very much enjoyed and learned from this, and I can't see what lives are changed because of it.

Summary:

What if there was a contract that expressly stipulated how you should run your life? A contract that was designed by you, signed by you and monitored by you. A contract that honoured the wishes of the most important person in your life - you. Dineshrie Pillay explores what the ideal contract with yourself could look like, with a view to achieving your personal success. Instructive and inspirational, The Contract With Yourself is filled with useful stories, analogies, and practical action steps that you can easily apply to assess and plan your life. This easy-to-read self-motivation book runs 182 pages and deals with all areas of life, including work, family, finances, health, self-image and personal goals. It is a practical and simple reminder of all the action steps that can be taken to make progress towards achieving individual success and fulfilment. Each chapter includes activities, post-chapter reflection, guiding questions and reminders that can be used as a tool for ongoing personal reflection. The main text is easy to read and follow, supported by examples and anecdotes to illustrate key points. Each chapter can be read in isolation, making it easy for the reader to work their way through the book in their own time. The wealth of information that is contained within this book can easily be carried along on business travels, holidays or longer trips as the reader progresses through the book. The Contract With Yourself is based on author Dineshrie Pillay's experience as a professional in business, which spans over 20 years. Success is the outcome of consistently adopting simple life principles. This book is a reminder of those life principles.
