Good morning!

10/2/2025

Good morning and welcome to the wonderful world where zombies and mythical creatures live in harmony—on the surface.

I’m so excited to share this brand new edition with you, and I can’t wait to see the cover and edits in a physical copy. We’ve taken one step toward the final goal at the end of this campaign, and I couldn't be happier!

Meanwhile, I’ve been working hard on goodies and editing. I actually created some new artwork that I plan to fit into this Kickstarter (below).

I just wanted to step out and say thank you for your support. If you don’t know who I am, my name is K. Weikel. I’ve written 67 books at this point, and I’m wanting to revamp them all—mostly because I published my first book in 2014 and was just starting to understand self-publishing.

In 2015, my book The One-Hundred won a Wattys award, and I feel like that’s the moment I believed I could do this.

And then the algorithms took over and I fell into obscurity.

However, that didn’t stop me from doing what I loved: writing.

When Dead Men Bleed actually stemmed from a Wattys contest. They were looking for fantasy ideas. I gave them three: When the Sky Eats, Saving the Fawn Prince, and When Dead Men Bleed.

Long story short, I had a book with sky monsters, a book with a deerling fae prince, and zombies. Because I REALLY wanted to write a book with zombies.

So I did. I dropped them into a post-apocalyptic earth where the human population dwindled so much, the mythical creatures lurking behind the veil found the power to overtake them and force them into a corner. Humans then became like cattle—and treated even worse. They’re hunted, collected, and killed on sight, depending on the creature that finds them.

Zombies are a staple in this community, although when Zeke’s alive, the original zombies have all died out—or at least they should all be dead. Really dead, not undead.

Now this is where the lore and present collide… and you haven’t even heard about the Bleeders, yet.
Bleeders are truly immortal mutations of zombies, or so everyon’es told. When the mythical creatures (second worlders) rose to take over the Earth, these mutations appeared, and fought alongside the humans.

Ever since, they’ve been hunted by the new government, the Council of Myth, and became more of a legend than anything.

Until Zeke, a zombie with a temper issue, unknowingly steps in a ring with one.

Once scratched, Zeke has to hide the fact he’s become this abomination, risking becoming both an outcast and a target. How do you cope when your beliefs have been influenced by society, the same society that will destroy you once you become something it disagrees with?

Anyway, I just wanted to share a bit about me and When Dead Men Bleed. This is by far one of my favorite books I’ve ever written, and I can’t wait to have this new-and-improved second edition in your hands at the end of this campaign.

Thanks again!

Re-edited second edition + campaign perks are live. Come take a bite.

Hi, friends!

It’s official—my When Dead Men Bleed Kickstarter is live and I’d be thrilled to have you along from day one.

Back the campaign here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kweikel/when-dead-men-bleed-second-edition-re-edited-release
Picture

What’s this edition?

A fully re-edited release to sharpen the voice, tighten pacing, and make the world even gritter. Same heart, sharper teeth, smoother storytelling.
“Fate has a way of changing yer plans, mate.”

I never asked for fate to change me into a Bleeder, but here I am. And in a world where Bleeders are hunted down for who-knows-what, I’m less safe than I was as a fragile zombie.

The girl who turned me has been a Bleeder all her life, and she’s managed to evade the government this long—but I honestly thing it’s cost her everything. I keep saying I hate her, but with a surge of emotions I’ve never experienced before, I honestly couldn’t tell you what I think of her, or anything before.

After all, I was what society made me.

Now, existing outside of it, and learning more about these human-sympathizers…

I don’t think anything will stop changing, ever again.
Picture

Why back now?

  • Signal boost matters most early. Day-one momentum tells Kickstarter’s algorithm people care.
  • Limited-quantity rewards. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
  • Stretch goals = more cool stuff. Such as dust jackets, art on the edges, and even a brand new never before seen book related to the Dead Men Series.

New to the series?

When Dead Men Bleed is a dark, pulpy, monster-punk story about identity, loyalty, and appetite—starring a former zombie turned Bleeder trying (and failing) to keep a low profile. If you like sharp banter, found families with fangs, and fight-club vibes, this is for you.
Picture

How can you help?

  1. Back at any level, even at $1 to help the algorithm
  2. Share the link with a friend who loves undead chaos
  3. Comment on the campaign—activity boosts reach
Picture
Thank you (truly!) for reading, backing, sharing, and screaming with me in the comments. This story means the world, and your support lets me make the definitive edition.

With gratitude,
  • K.

Biomechanics of Your Body: A Simplified Way to learn Human Movement and Muscles by Tracy L. Markley

My Review:

This book is great for anyone wanting to know more about your body and how it works. The illustrations are colorful and well-labeled, and the text was easy to understand. As someone who took anatomy in college and did NOT do well, I really wished I had a book like this to help me out.

It also teaches how to strengthen those muscles and take care of them.

But the best part is the section with definitions. It's always my favorite area when it comes to these types of books, especially since it helps refresh my memory of what I just read.

Loved and highly recommend this book. Great and easy read!

Summary:

Biomechanics of Your Body, A Simplified Way to Learn Human Movement and Muscles easily teaches where a muscle attaches and what movements that muscle performs. Whether you are reaching out to learn more about muscles and movements of the human body for yourself, a class, or your profession, this book is for you. Knowledge is power. The more you know about your own body the better you can take care of it and make it stronger at any age. This book will answer many questions such as:
  • What are the names of the muscles on the human body?
  • What muscles perform which movements?
  • What muscles extend the hand?
  • What muscles abduct the hips?
  • How many bones are in the human body?
  • My doctor said I need to strengthen my core. What are my core muscles?
  • What is fascia?

And more…

This book is for kids to seniors. At any age, the human body needs to be strengthened safely for everyday activities and sports. The better we understand what muscles participate in what movements, the better we can apply the knowledge personally and professionally.

The human body has many more muscles than what is usually taught in basic anatomy sections of most physical education, fitness & exercise classes, and certification courses. This book is a great reference to keep around at home or any location where physical movement is being practiced or rehabilitated.

This book includes a chapter with definitions of movement and action names used in kinesiology, biomechanics, and anatomy teachings.

My Review:

This book surprised me. I loved the style of writing, and the detail that went into every moment. This world was carefully cultivated by the author, and you can tell he loves this world. It has everything from genetically modified creatures to mutated humans as we follow three main characters through maybe the toughest times in their lives. They are far from perfect, but your heart swells for them to make the right decisions and learn from their mistakes.

I think I loved Julian the most. It was amazing watching him work, especially with his abilities, and trying to keep them secret and keep some semblance of normalcy as he and his dad search for a wife. My heart ached for him and I had my fingers crossed tragedy wouldn't befall him, but one can only hope for so long.

My most favorite thing about this book, I think, would be the way people are described, especially the fat guy with no hair. The author gave these descriptions breath and life, and I loved every second.

I enjoyed this book a lot, and I look forward to the next one!

Summary:

In the distant future, a wiser humanity worships Gaia, and the mighty Labs manufacture a variety of creatures to serve society. Abundance and prosperity are everywhere, yet for a few youngsters life is a hard struggle. As ambitions clash and desires rage, some powerful forces are determined to challenge the supremacy of mankind and alter the natural order

Video Review: I WISH SOMEBODY HAD TOLD ME THIS SOONER!: A Comprehensive, No Bulls**** Guide to Education, Money, Healthy Relationships and Traditional Family Values by Tudor Andrei

9/20/2024

My Review:

This book gives the reader a reality check, solidifying and reminding us of how the world works. It goes over everything, including degrees, money, navigating healthy relationships, and even what the traditional family unit is and the strain breaking this tradition has on children and the world.

There are a lot of great points made in this book, and it can be hard for some people to hear, but the truth often is. There may be things I may not FULLY agree with, but I believe that's due to my own nuance and belief on some of the points made, but overall, this book is correct and observant.

This is for the type of person looking for a book that doesn't cut corners or coddle you, walking down the middle path so as to not ruffle any feathers, this is one you want to read. In a world where everyone is lost, afraid, and confused, this is a unique beacon of light leading readers back to the best path for them. Good read.
Amazon

Summary:

"I Wish Somebody Had Told Me This Sooner!" is a no-nonsense guide to life's crucial topics like money, healthy relationships, education, and traditional family values. In this book, author Tudor Andrei reveals hard-hitting truths about life and insights that are not taught in school and seldom shared by our elders. It is written for readers who appreciate blunt, honest facts that are frequently omitted in today's politically correct environment and typically only learned once it's too late, after the damage has already been done.

Whether you’re a teenager trying to decide which profession to pursue, a young adult burdened by a useless degree trying to break the cycle of constantly struggling with finances, or someone confused by your pattern of attracting dysfunctional relationships that inevitably throw your life into chaos, this book is for you!

Through pages packed with knowledge and practical advice that come straight from the battlefield of life—acquired through trial and error and lots of blood, sweat, and tears—this book will serve as a sage mentor to guide you in making informed decisions, helping you improve your quality of life and reach your true potential.

Existence - Sci-Fi Romance Thriller Book Launch - First Chapter Review

"
The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion"

Picture
Book Website
Chapter 1 Teaser

Summary:

A 100 years into the future, Earth has become a desolate wasteland. Society's collapse came at the hands of pride, lust, and violence, leading to indulgences that tore the very fabric of human existence. As crime soared and the wealthy clung to their power, the poor faced dwindling lifespans and oppressive governments that crushed dissent. The sanctity of love and marriage dissolved, and a global war nearly wiped out the human race.

In the aftermath, survivors split into two factions: the explorers who dream of new worlds, and the earthbound who cling to the dying planet. The explorers, with determination and ingenuity, built Pearth, a colossal space station destined to find humanity a new home. Seventy-five years later, with resources scarce and relationships strained, the fate of humanity hangs by a thread. In this world, love is a rare and precious commodity.

Existence tells a gripping science fiction tale of a resilient romance amidst adversity, as an explorer fights against the universe-and himself-to ensure humanity's survival. Join us in this epic sci-fi thriller, where love defies the odds and courage lights the way through the darkest voids of space.

First Chapter Review:

So, this book comes out 9/18. I had the privelage to read the first chapter, and let me tell you, it's a strong opener.

You get a glimpse into this society formed from the ashes of the ones we know. The lore dump is interesting and plausable, honeslty, with all things considered, and it leaves off on a promising end note, making you crave the rest of the story.

With how well done everything is in the first chapter, I look forward to seeing where Koa (whose name I love) winds up, considering this is shaping up to have some dystopian characteristics.

I'm always excited to find great scifi reads, since they don't seem to get as much love as fantasy, and this is definitely one of them. I hope you're as excited as I am to read this one cover to cover.

About the Author:

Prithvi is an immigrant engineer with a deep passion for physics, astronomy and history.

He combines his decades-old passion for science fiction with a lifelong enthusiasm for story telling to create a compelling protagonist in Koa Kent, a former explorer pilot and . physicist employed by the government.

The author's firsthand experience in engineering and philosophy, along with immersion in art and political history, imbues the characters in this intricately layered thriller with unparalleled authenticity and realism. An avid photographer and resident of the US since the 2010s, he has traveled across the country from Maine to Hawaii.

My Review:

I thought this was an interesting and thought-provoking story. I enjoyed seeing the different points of view, and it was great watching the characters grow up and change, as well as watching their beliefs shift with time and their surroundings. It was entertaining and I think a lot of people would enjoy giving this book a try.

Summary:

In the year 1587, one hundred and seventeen colonists cast ashore on Roanoke Island off the coast of modern-day North Carolina. Their primary aim was to establish a permanent English colony to be exploited as a foothold into the New World.

They failed. All souls were presumed lost, perhaps to violent ends, and their colony was relegated to infamy.

Before this tragedy was discovered, a second, clandestine expedition of settlers was mounted and sent across the Great Sea to buttress that first colony’s attempt. Rumors that they endured supernatural occurrences, greed, jealousy, desperate passions, and a futile struggle for power linger. To now, their true fate remains unknown.

As recounted from the journals of two young colonists, A Parable Before Heathens reveals the same tale, entwining dissimilar perspectives of their destinies, and documenting this second expedition’s ultimate outcome.

Why 'Hippo' by Robert Raphael is a Must-Read Children's Book of the Summer (My Review)

Picture

My Review:

This was so cute. The images were simple and adorable, and I really enjoyed what the hippo did and watching him try to figure out how to stay cool in the heat. Loved it. I think this would be perfect for any kid wanting a cute adventure with silly solutions and diverse characters.

There are a few words in here that might need adult pronunciation, though, so maybe this would be best read aloud as say a bedtime story!

Summary:

Join Hippo on a whimsical journey as he tries to beat the heat in a charming tale filled with humor, vibrant characters, and unexpected twists.

Hippo starts his day lounging in the sun, only to find the temperature soaring to a sweltering 103 degrees. Determined to cool down, Hippo embarks on a series of delightful misadventures. From borrowing sandals from Mr. Hemingway to trying out sunglasses and sitting at an outdoor café, Hippo’s efforts seem futile as the thermometer stubbornly reads the same high temperature.

In his quest for coolness, Hippo interacts with a host of amusing characters – a shivering snake, a perfectly comfortable ostrich, and a nonchalant crocodile.

Despite his best efforts, nothing seems to work. Not even the arrival of a Viennese doctor and a French balloonist, who weigh Hippo in the most peculiar way, can help him escape the heat.

This endearing story is perfect for children and families, teaching a valuable lesson about creativity, perseverance, and finding joy in the simplest of solutions. Filled with lively illustrations and a playful narrative, "Hippo" is a delightful addition to any bookshelf.

Grab your copy today and dive into Hippo’s hilarious journey to beat the heat!
