My Review:I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It has heart, lessons, action, and so much lore. I thoroughly loved being in this world and experiencing through a group of friends who don’t know really anything about it. Every twist was very well executed and immersed me into the world. It reminded me a lot of what I’ve seen of the Shannarah Chronicles for some reason, and that’s a good thing since I enjoyed it very much. The characters are wonderful and unique and I was rooting for them. When someone would meet an untimely demise or get left behind, I found myself saying, “No!” My favorite thing about this book were the fight scenes. The way the author made them feel alive in their descriptions is something I’ve rarely seen before, and it was very much appreciated. The creativity is insurmountable and I feel like I’m talking in circles because of how much I loved it. The ending was great, and I’m really excited for the next book. The author is amazing at character creation, even with the villains, and I commend them for that. All in all, I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a grand, action-packed fantasy that will keep you on the edge of your seat until it’s final page. Summary:Soul shards. Ember never gave these things much thought. Even though her people had long been conquered by the Soveterra, and the village where she was raised was forced to forge weapons for his army, Ember had never seen true conflict. Until the day the guardian of her village planned to execute her friend. That day she witnessed the terrifying capabilities of a soul shard, but also, she realized there was something inside her: a power that awakened when she confronted the guardian. How could she produce the same magic the soul shards conjure? For answers, Ember would escape her village in search of a secret organization that might be able to help her understand. But what she finds on her path are deadly foes, a prophecy of a liberator, and a plan that threatens all of life itself, to which she will realize: her new power may be the only thing that can save the world from falling into oblivion.
