K. WEIKEL ON THE ONE-HUNDRED
This was my first "big" story. The Trapped Trilogy was my baby, but this... This was more than anything I've ever written. There was more thought and more chaos than ever before. And then... The story became me and became bigger than life as it went on. It became a piece of art to me, and my best. Read it--I promise disappointment will be far from your reach!
Every human baby is killed beneath the waves - with one exception. The one hundred thousandth is spared. However, these babies sometimes have gifts. These are the One-Hundreds. They are chosen by the moon or sea, an ancient magic sweeping over them. But when one of the One-Hundreds rises, the darkness chases after her and hunts her down, loving her for his own selfish desires, while another boy who's given up on love is drawn to her. Unless Cressa-la can bring the darkness to his knees and fight the war raging inside of her, the world is doomed.
REVIEWS OF THE ONE-HUNDRED
- After reading the first three for the SECOND time I realized why I rated it 5 stars. The books basically depicts a girl in desperate need of a reality check. Water is water. Get over it. But in this story water is way more than just water. It's a twist, a character, a vital point in a story of survival. And the whole purpose of this story is to show that sometimes you have to take chances and dive into the unknown. Or in this case the ocean. Cause you both never know what you're gonna find. Or what's gonna find you. Overall a lovely book with a great plot and characters that will make you wanna tear your hair out. In a good way. :)
--I give The One-Hundred 5 stars. It's a well paced and original fantasy with adventure and I highly recommend it. The characters are original and very well thought out.
- Ok so I really, really love this book. It was an instant hook, from the summary to the first chapter. The cover is great too. I liked how it didn't give way everything in the first chapter, but rather left it a mystery. I love trying to guess what might happen next, and all the twists and turns already in only the first chapter! The imagery was on point, the originality was check plus, I definitely rate this 5 stars!! I can't wait to keep reading it!
What if Cressa-la hadn't touched the water?
How drastically different would things have been?
The Earth has become warmer, making these islands habitable. The humans that survive through Mother Nature's fury have created Tribes, created rules. One of these rules is to not go near the water, to not touch it.
And Cressa-la doesn't. Because she chose to follow the rules, could there be an even bigger consequence than when she had?
Sometimes the villian of the story isn't really evil -
Damian isn't in the right... state of mind to seek revenge on a certain One with powers stronger than him. But, perhaps, if he had help from, let's say, a certain girlfriend, maybe he could return to his former self.
Or maybe he'll just dig himself a grave.
Dametria and Jackie have wandered off, not sure of what exactly went down between Damian and Cressa-la. And when Damian wordlessly begins to lead them to what he wants, the girls uncover more about themselves than Damian's ever seen. Of course, this doesn't phase who he is and what he wants, but, perhaps... perhaps some day it might.
Or so Dametria hopes.
