Book 1 of the Unnamed Duology
I am unnamed. My title is dead.
In the World, the Planet, and the Base, it's either be number one or die.
The alternative to dying, however, is to become an Unnamed. Turning eighteen means that you will compete for your name. Come out on top, you get a name and continue to the next two stages. Don't win, become one of the Unnamed. And no one knows what happens to the Unnamed.
Running is easy for the Runner. He's been doing it since he was five. Easy, until things start happening, abnormal things. People aren't finishing their races. Others are acting strange. Easy, until the Runner has to become an Unnamed to find out what's going on.
He has no name, but he has a title. The Runner.
That's all he is in the midst of Runners.
He'll get a name, yes. But not until his birthday.
Not until the Competitions. Not until things are back to normal.
Not until he earns it.
Can he do it?
Run. For your life. For your name. Don't become an Unnamed.

Nine months of sleep, three months of being awake, that's how the year goes for us. Half of us wake up tired and sore while all of us wake up smelling of either lotion or bleach. But during the nine month period of hibernation, I woke up.
And now I know why I always wake up sore and reeking of bleach.
SAMENESS. WHAT WE STRIVED FOR SO LONG TO ACHIEVE. BUT WHAT IF YOU'RE DESTINED TO BE DIFFERENT?
Humans have always strived for equality, for everyone to be treated equal. We finally reached the point of this harmony, this level of sameness--and everyone is happy. Many, many generations later.
But what happens when, in a wold of people knocked down and stood up to be exactly alike, a person wants to be different? What if they're destined to be unique in a world of strict equality?

Nightmares have visited her every night for as long as she can remember. She would draw them out, hoping they'd disappear from her mind. Sometimes it worked, other times it didn't.
And then, one normal day, the characters from these dreams of terror materialize, making Krystal question both reality and her sanity.
When two of these characters reveal themselves as friends, they ask for her help, quickly earning her trust. They stumble across an old curse cast on Krystal's great-great-great-grandfather that will soon be bestowed upon her own shoulders.
Can Krystal break the curse and dodge the prophecies appearing, or will she get caught up, destroying her town and, soon after, the world?
I see things that nobody else sees
My family seems to be perfect from the outside looking in. We have the big house, the money for things, the million-dollar-smiles… but nothing is ever as it seems.
We’re plastic. We’re fake. So fake, in fact, that we hide the little things about us, we hide everything about us, to be more specific. My dad does things he isn’t supposed to, and my mom is taking it hard. My brother has a full ride to any college of his choice, and he’s blowing it away like it’s nothing at all.
So what would happen if someone found out about us? If they saw through our little charade? If they looked past the kitchen curtains that hide every conversation my parents have with each other? What if we were exposed for who we really are, instead of who everyone thinks we are?

Starfire lives in a wold where dragons and dragonriders are everywhere. She ran away from home when she was little, due to bad living situations and she lost her dragon when she was nine. She was then cursed for eternity.

Ride along over the clouds with Starfire as she tries to reverse the curse, running through labyrinths to get to the cure.
“There’s a world,” he began as he leaned up against one of the poles surrounding the fountain. I wanted to laugh at the cheesiness of the moment, but I couldn’t. My eyes were caught on his, and I wasn’t able to look away. I was mesmerized. By what, I’ve no idea. But I was. “It’s dissimilar from the one you perceive. You are a great force in this world of weakness, and there is little that can overpower you, but many still attempt. And the look you’re giving me now is one I never received before I escaped from my painful cocoon; no one would give me the time of day. Now even you want to converse with me. Nothing is more marvelous than this life I’m existing in, Catrina.” He dropped his hand and looked into my eyes. “And since you are the one I’ve chosen, since you are the one that I had at least called a familiar acquaintance, I have decided to ask you this question of a lifetime.”
He pushed his fingers through his hair, seeming almost nervous as I tried to comprehend what these words mean. More riddles. Harvey reached forward and touched my arm, running his hand down to my elbow. I stood there, marveled, and confused, chills running down my body from his cool touch.
“Would you like to be a part of this new world, Catrina?”
