My Review:What a lovely set of poems. The words are purposeful and reach deep into your soul, bringing your pure, unadulterated emotions to the surface. While some are extremely relatable, others embrace you and lift your spirits. I loved this collection, and I cannot recommend it enough. Kim Nicole does not disappoint. Summary:Love. Love. Love. A Collection of Mindfulness Poetry illustrates the joys and sufferings of my life through the medium of mindfulness poetry. Creating a sacred space for readers to connect and inquire into their own path of spiritual awareness and quiet wisdom. Themes expressed in this collection are love, nature, suffering, aging, loving kindness and compassion, the challenges of a mindfulness and meditation practice in these modern times, impermanence and non-attachment, and the harm caused by non-wise speech. My hope is as one sits to read, the flow of words will unfold the breath creating a meditative experience.
My Review:What started as a cynical man loathing his life and everything in it turned into an inspirational story filled with harsh truth and brutal honesty. While not agreeing with every point of view (and I don't believe that is a requirement to enjoy something), I appreciated this story for what it was and highly recommend reading it. It is quite lengthy, but it kept me engaged the entire time. Seeing what it's like inside prison, especially during a crucial time in history where everything was on its head, is an enlightening experience. Seeing the trauma and repercussions of being both inside and freed from that atmosphere is eye-opening. I love the messages at the end and the advice given. I seem to be enjoying books lately that are told in more of a letter format, especially when they're written like this one. Highly recommend. Summary:A secret preview into the treacherous journey of a man thrown from a successful life in Silicon Valley into the dark asphyxiating prison of San Quentin, with murders, serial killers, rats, and COVID around every corner. This true story is told by an inmate who was inside, living and breathing in the system of incarceration for nearly two years. He paints a masterpiece of detail by challenging the stigma that prisoners are less than people, that law enforcement is superior, and that the system of incarceration in the United States is still functioning. You will join him in the cell while he recounts hunger strikes, malnutrition, panic, and pandemonium, by weaving comedic banter with a stoic sense of realism. This is a captivating tale of how sick and dying men, caused by the nationally publicized disaster of thirty deaths in a short period in the prison, stitched together the remnants of their shattered dignity and formed a brotherhood to withstand all odds; it paints the solo journey of a man’s struggle through addiction, loss, corruption, oppression, racism, and fear. You won’t put down this enthralling and uttering engrossing saga of survival, a triumphant testament to the endurance of the human spirit, loyalty, respect, and the fallacy of rehabilitation while incarcerated
My Review:This is definitely an interesting book. It's quirky with unique and smart characters. The mystery is well done and brilliantly thought-out. Highly recommend if you like mysteries/detective stories without so much heaviness in the plot lines. Although I'm not sure what the target audience is, I'm sure any age could really enjoy its contents. My only issues is it's easy to get lost sometimes, and the pacing is strange at points. I don't like the BONUS CONTENT and whatnot; it just feels like a strange break between the end of the chapter and the true end of the chapter. I also wish some of the parts were told from a different point of view so I could be there in the moment, rather than hear about it. Overall, the book was well-researched and quite entertaining. Summary:In a neighborhood plagued by unseen terror, two sisters hold the key to outwitting a dark adversary before their lives unravel.
Ever heard of Fenton Pareto? He's only the coolest private investigator around. But when the Bay Area turns into a nightmare of disappearing jewels, tormented pets, and mysteriously glitching cellphones, even he needs some backup. Enter Charlie and Clarke Pareto, his super-smart daughters, ready to take on the mystery that's stumping their dad. Think you've got what it takes to crack the code? Then strap in for a rollercoaster ride with the Pareto sisters, as they match wits with a remote enemy who's controlling the chaos like a puppet master. And just when you think it couldn't get crazier, the sisters get framed for a crime they didn't commit! But, how are the sisters supposed to clear their names while dodging booby traps, weaponized music, and dangerous QR codes? With a hefty dose of courage, a dash of stubbornness, and a custom-made secret weapon - their razor-sharp minds. The Invisible Hand is the first heart-stopping book in an epic trilogy, where the Pareto sisters dive headfirst into a world of secrets, danger, and shocking discoveries. Inspired by the author's own experiences in Menlo Park, California, this story will have you flipping pages like there's no tomorrow. So buckle up, detective, and remember: in this game, nothing is as it seems. My Review:This has everything I need in it for accounting. My Review:Such a wonderfully imaginative tale of finding inspiration and learning to love your talents again. As someone currently coming out of a slump where all my creations almost seem pointless, this is an amazing, inspirational book. It warms my heart and makes me smile, and I feel like I can enjoy what I'm doing again. The story gives me Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass vibes with the characters and the different situations the Lost Pilot found himself in. Each interaction was unique and charming in their own way. Not to mention the pictures are WONDERFUL, and I absolutely adore them. Such a cute story for both kids and adults. Never lose that spark of creativity within you. Love it until your last breath. Summary:In celebration of the 80th anniversary of The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s classic children’s story, THE LOST PILOT is a full color, fully illustrated children's chapter book. Part homage and part biography, THE LOST PILOT is an exploration of how books inspire and why imagination is so important.
When a traveler falls overboard during a terrible storm, he washes ashore on a deserted island. Thinking he is alone, he’s astonished when a pilot wanders into his camp and asks him to draw an airplane. As the two become friends, the lost pilot reveals a mission that sent him far, far away a long time ago, and his wish to return to this distant place among the stars. THE LOST PILOT is a tribute to one of the greatest books of all time, an exploration of why inspiration matters, and a testament to how important using your imagination really is – it can change the world! My Review:I thoroughly enjoyed this book. A hitman in the shadow of an Indian mafia boss who falls in love with said boss's girlfriend. It's a tad bit gorey, so reader beware. There are also quite a few times where it feels like it drags with descriptions, but they're so well done, I'm willing to look past them. I think my favorite part of this book is the main character's whole personality. Shantanu is such a good guy, even if he's a hitman. He's respectful, clever, and thoughtful, despite the crud the underworld has put him through. He does his best to do the right thing when he can, and has a change of heart when he meets Mahek. That being said, this is the first in a series. I'm curious to see what the other books contain, considering the ending of this book. I also loved learning about a new culture through a storytelling aspect. I feel like I learned a lot, actually. I'm excited for the next installment. If you like mafia stories, this book is one you don't want to miss out on. Summary:From the heart of the Bombay underworld emerges an extraordinary tale of redemption.
Shantanu, a hardened hitman known for his cold precision, is thrust into a web of moral turmoil when underworld kingpin Kshitij Bhosale assigns him a special target who will forever change his destiny. As Shantanu navigates the treacherous underworld, he is joined by a compelling cast of characters, including Vasu, the enigmatic strategist; Aabhay, the steadfast ally; and Puneet, the ambitious gangster—each playing their part in this high-stakes game. Shantanu, the gripping debut installment in the Rakhta Charitra series, combines fierce action and masterful storytelling to tell the tale of one man’s fight to reclaim his goodness. Get ready to embark on a journey through the sinister underbelly of crime where loyalty, love, and survival collide. Grab your copy now! “It’s hard to forgive yourself when twenty-twenty hindsight is like your disease.” This isn’t the same world it used to be. Now that humans have once again casted out the second-worlders, unrest grows like a cancer. A cancer I helped create. I wasn't pleased to see Mikey again, but there's something different about her this time. She's calmer, tamer... and I would never admit it, but I've grown used to her being at my side. But with the weight of the future on our shoulders and even bigger targets on our backs, we'll need more than each other for protection. Now there’s fire in my veins as emerald eyes stare back at me. She says she’ll take me to see my parents if I do her a favor. Little did we know, that favor would uncover a blight worse than anything we’ve faced before. And I don’t know if we can make it out alive this time. My Review:What an interestingly unique book. It’s written both like a script and a novel, and it works really well. This author has a lot of talent, describing everything in great detail and mastering the art of showing verses telling. I’m amazed at the love that was very much pumped into this story by the gallon. This book doesn’t mince words. It’s very good at getting to the point—which is a quality I appreciate. There are quite a few characters to keep track of, but it gets easier as you go along. If you’re looking for something different, definitely pick this one up. You won’t be disappointed. Summary:BOOK ONE, Origin's Edge, of The Book of Men seriesA fate-changing manuscript is at the center of a battle that could forever alter the course of humanity.Against the backdrop of the idyllic Great Plains of Colorado and the 1970s New York blackouts, a battle rages over a powerful Book that can dictate the world's fate.

But dangerous actors like the ominous Zhain are also after The Book. Zhain wants to use it to create a new world order - and he'll stop at nothing to get it. As the search for The Book intensifies, the violence escalates to the point of no return. The stakes have never been higher. Is there hope amidst the ashes of destruction? Or will the world succumb to the darkness? The dark twists and turns of this thought-provoking story will shock you to your core. But they'll also draw you in and won't let go. Get it here. My Review:What a wonderful story. It's really cool seeing how people in other countries live, and how different it is from the US. I've never been outside America's borders, so it's really amazing to learn about Ukraine and Russia and the people that live there. John and Irina wade through so much to reach a happy ending. It was a little slow to start, but I finally found myself invested in these characters, and I'm so glad I kept reading. It's funny how things will fight to keep us from happiness, but it's the ones that persevere and keep fighting for what they want, love, and believe that truly overcomes those obstacles. This is that kind of book. Pick it up and read it. You won't be disappointed. Summary:Irina Balabanova is a beautiful Ukrainian girl, twenty-seven years of age and heartbroken. Book 3 of the Underdogs Series It’s been a while since I’ve done an actual writing update. So… here it is!
The first two books of Underdogs have been published. I’m hoping to finish editing the third before Thursday(God help me), because I get my wisdom teeth taken out. So wish me luck with that. The third book will be published on June 22, 2023, and you can preorder it now! I want to start taking preorders for the paperbacks, and my online store makes that possible. If you’d like to preorder a paperback or hardcover, pop on over to my shop. I’ve rewritten the fourth book three times at this point, so I’ll hopefully have that finished soon. The next few books for Underdogs won’t be as quick of a release as the other three, but I still hope you enjoy them. They’ll each be switching to different povs, so the first few books are more about getting inside the character’s minds and learning the worlds they come from. This fourth book, however, might be a bit more on the darker side than the rest, and a tad more mature (in a heavy series of current and past situations way, not a mature-content way). My reference for these books when it comes to what o write about can be described as Animorphs and Goosebumps. I don’t plan on having anything like my books When Dead Men Bleed, The Blood Room, Through the Dimension of Nightmares, or Building Monsters in these books (gore/blood/terrifying). I plan on charting my growth as a writer with these books, and I want to get better each time I write an Underdogs book. So I hope you enjoy. In other news, When Dead Men Breathe will be released in October. I will be editing that while finishing the third book in the Dead Men Series. I also plan for a prequel trilogy for Dead Men, but that won’t happen for a while, as I want to finish everything I’ve started beforehand. If you recall, Go was finished not too long ago, the second to Stop. I’ve been thinking about the end of the book non-stop lately, and I think it’s another one of my favorites. I will be editing that soon after WDMB2, and Waterlogged will be edited after that. My goal is to tie up the series I’ve yet to finish (including Replay) before starting anything new. But of course, we’ll see where the tides take me. Thanks so much for all your support and love. I feel like I’m in a turning point with my books and writing, and I’m so glad to have you on this journey with me. So thank you. Summary:Alice is in a coma, Malcolm is missing... and Ian is trying to keep his cool under the pressure of finals. Can’t he just catch a break? Doesn’t seem like it, after getting bitten by the bug species taking over the school, and... hearing one of the bugs talk? Is this it? Has he cracked? Or is there something more sinister happening here?
Eh, it’s probably just a bunch of weird bugs, right? Book 2 of the Underdogs Series My review:This book is filled with fun and unique puzzles that make you think. It’s a lot like sudoku, but there’s a cool spin that makes it interesting and unique. The artwork in the puzzles and the way they’re laid out keeps it fresh and fun. The puzzles range from easy (1 star) to difficult (5 star), and my goodness, they can be tough—but in a good way! I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves puzzles or games that will help keep your brain sharp. I’ll definitely be getting more of these books for friends and family that I know would love this. Summary:Albcell is a visual and mental treat for puzzle-lovers of all ages and skill levels. Each puzzle contains a unique logical challenge within a picture…
This set of 81 brand-new puzzles is inspired by, and a tribute to, one of the greatest minds in western music: Richard Wagner. As a fitting mental challenge in his honour, the puzzles chart Wagner’s journey into our modern consciousness. While fans of Albcell will find all the familiar challenges within these pages, this edition also introduces another innovation – the ‘double puzzle’ – to further stretch the minds of puzzle-lovers everywhere! My Review:I've always been a huge fan of Nathaniel Luscombe's work, and this solidifies it even more. The scope of the world is phenomenal and the characters are well done. Nathaniel's world building abilities are beyond amazing, and I can't recommend this book enough. The story moves along with perfect pace, and the twists are elegantly done. I love the shared dreams and the switching point of views. I love books where the reader is in the dark and are trying to figure out what's going on alongside the main character. It really bonds you to the story and continuously keeps you invested. I'd give this ten stars if I could, but alas, only five are available. Amazing job. Summary:Two girls. One fate.
Alejhar has spent her life by the sea. She knows its secrets, or so she thinks. When she gets caught in a storm, she finds herself face to face with the impossible. Now she has to figure out what her island has been hiding from her. Jynn has spent her life catching jellyfish. She doesn't know how to save the world. Especially when it needs to be saved from the people she trusts most. A man's dying words are going to send her on a journey to discover who she really is. When they come together, the island may crack beneath the weight of its past. My Review:This collection of short stories is breathtaking. I enjoyed every moment, every character, and every new world. Nathaniel Luscombe is a master at finding the best writers and bringing them together for a beautiful masterpiece. Summary:The universe is full of life.
Life is full of sorrow. There are beings who walk between the stars, longing for love. There are rebels fighting for freedom. There are museums dedicated to all that has been lost. There are humans dying so that others can survive. The universe is full of life, not all life is meant for the universe. My Review:This book is filled with well thought out points and ideas, and I appreciate that a lot. Having a dream without a plan leaves emptiness and disappointment. I may not agree with everything in this book, but it’s cool seeing the other side of things. I love the way this is formatted, like an interview or a conversation. Eric and Corinne bounce off each other well and are extensively knowledgeable about their field of study. This brings up a lot of interesting points and gets you thinking. This is definitely a book with reading, no matter what side you stand on, even if you’re a sheep or an activist. Summary:Almost everyone agrees on the need to transition the global economy to net zero. But how do we do it? And how do we do it faster ? If you feel demoralized, depressed or confused about the climate crisis this book will provide answers – and ones that don’t involve punishing lifestyle changes, the end of capitalism, or a much higher tax bill.
Supercharge Me is grounded in relentless realism about how governments, businesses and individuals actually behave. It draws lessons from what has worked so extreme positive incentives and smart regulations. Through a series of fast-paced dialogues, the authors introduce practical ideas for change that will embolden activists, reinvigorate the disheartened, and reframe the climate crisis as an opportunity. |
